The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, or JDRF, was founded in 1970 with the mission of “finding a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research”. Since its inception they have been able to give more than $1.5 billion to diabetes research and we want to help them with their continuing efforts.
We encourage everyone to learn more about JDRF’s walks, rides and kids walks near you at http://www.jdrf.org

What is the difference? The primary difference between the two is that JDRF solely supports Type 1 Diabetes research, while the ADA also funds Type 2 Diabetes. The ADA’s mission statement is “to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes”. As a Type 1, you realize that it can’t be prevented because Type 1, unlike Type 2, is an autoimmune disorder.
Insulin is a treatment not a cure.
